Hey ladies and gents, I hope you're having a great morning, and enjoying this beautiful weather we're having across the nation! I wanted to take the time to share with you a little piece of my morning. While I was walking to my second class of the day, I overheard another student ramble to one of her friends about how she wasn't going to attend class that day because: "I'm exhausted and I hate that professor anyways!" This struck the wrong tone with me, for multiple reasons. While on the surface I am not directly affected by her poor decision, I am indirectly affected because I lose respect for the school and what it means to be a Pace Student. We are all given so many opportunities to showcase our talents and to learn amazing things from leading professionals in the industry, and through her bad attitude, she is wasting those opportunities.
I found myself pondering these thoughts throughout my next class, and finally came to the realization that: if you're going to do something, then do it! Don't half-ass it, don't bitch and complain about it, just do it! We all have the responsibility to work our hardest, give our best effort, and motivate others around us to do the same. This particular student is not only failing herself and wasting her parents' hard-earned money, but she is also failing her fellow students, faculty members, alumni, and founders. We are all a part of the Pace Community, and if we are not going to work our hardest to be imaginative, creative, critical, and analytical, then what are we doing here? Put your heart and soul into everything you do, because "if you're not working hard, someone else is." (Will Smith)
