Hey bloggers, remember me? I know it’s been a few months since I’ve been on here, and I sincerely apologize! However, I’m back and ready to start blogging again! The topic I would like to discuss with you today has to do with fashion. Specifically, purchasing key accessories to bring your wardrobe to the next level.
When you think of accessories what do you think of? Watches? Necklaces? Bags? You would be right, however what about a jacket or a pair of shoes? Are these key elements of an outfit also considered accessories? The truth is, an accessory is anything that accompanies and heightens the effectiveness of the key piece or focal point of an outfit. For instance, imagine a fashion-forward woman walking to her office on Fifth Avenue clutching a structured Gucci pochette, while working a sleek black Chanel dress with a pair of dark snakeskin heels from Dolce and Gabbana, topped with an oversized black Burberry trench coat and some bold cherry-red driving gloves. While all of these pieces are gorgeous individually and could all be the focal point of this woman’s outfit, we will choose to label the dress as the key piece of the outfit. This focal point is what makes the outfit what it is. Without it, the outfit would be considered mediocre or even boring. Her accessories, i.e. the heels, coat, shoes, bag and gloves all help to elevate the focal point to make it the star of the ensemble. This is a fairly classic way to view focal points and accessories, however I am here to expand on this idea of fashion and argue that spending more money on key accessories like bags and coats can elevate your off-the-rack dress to an exemplary level.
While we all wish we could dress like this imaginary goddess, most of us certainly can’t afford to spend $5,500 on each one of our outfits, which is why I encourage you to flip the standard role and make your accessories the focal points of your outfits. We can do this in many ways, however one of the easiest ways to accomplish this is to purchase high-end accessories rather than that gorgeous designer dress. I say this for a few reasons. At most, you may be able to wear that Chanel dress three or four times in a given month, giving you a somewhat similar look every single time, however, if you chose to spend that $2,300 on a structured Prada bag and a classic Kate Spade watch, you could elevate many more than just three or four outfits throughout your month. Spend your money on things that are versatile and timeless and from there, hit the sales to bring them all together. Doing this will not only ensure that you have an exceptional and diverse wardrobe, but it will also help you save money you can use to continue the cycle. These rules can be applied to both men and women, and in the long run, they will make you the master of your closet without breaking the bank.
In addition, your carefully chosen high-end accessories will give the illusion that your marked-down pieces are also designer products. For men, your classic Burberry trench will make your Men’s Warehouse suits look like Calvin Klein, elevating your style from forgettable to extraordinary. A few carefully selected accessories can make all the difference, and although spending $1,700 on a briefcase may seem like a lot, it sure beats spending $4,000 on two Prada suits you can wear a few times a month. The decision is yours, but if you want to look high-end and confident every day without breaking the bank, accessories are the way to go!
Thanks for reading, and as always, please comment, share, and let me know what you think!
